Progress University of Gyumri was founded in 1990. It is one of the first private universities in the Republic of Armenia, and the first in Shirak state.

The university is state licensed and accredited by the government of the Republic of Armenia: license № 002, 24.08.2000, № 161-164, 27.11.2002, K-XX-000033, 15.05.2005, state certificate № 006, 03.09.2001, № 200, 13.04.2007 № 104-108, 06.08.2004, № 123, 28.10.2004, № 192-199, 13.04.2007.

Education at the university is organized by the following educational programs:

1. Bachelor's degree
Individuals with secondary or secondary professional education can study at the bachelor's level. Duration of study in the existing department: 4 years (with Stomatology specialty: 5 years), in part-time department: 5 years. Graduates receive a state diploma of higher education with a bachelor's degree qualification.

2. Master's degree
Individuals with a bachelor's degree or a graduate professional qualification can study in the master's program. Study duration: 2 years. Graduates receive a state diploma of higher education with a master's degree qualification.

3. Medical College
People with basic general education (9th grade base) with a duration of 3-4 years of study and persons with a secondary (full general) education with a duration of 2-3 years of study can study in the medical college. Graduates receive a state diploma of secondary professional education with the qualification of a junior specialist and have the same rights as state colleges of the same name.

4. Basic school
The basic school carries out general education with a secondary/full/ general education program with an advanced focus on Russian, English and computer operation. The number of students in classes is limited to no more than 12. If desired, students also receive music education.

Advanced training in computer technology and English language is provided at undergraduate, graduate and medical colleges. Students can receive additional education with the qualification of computer operator and foreign language translator, for which a corresponding certificate is issued.
